Default Virus TI startup problem

Hi everyone,

Looks like my trusty Virus TI Desktop is having a bad day. When ever start the TI desktop, the following happens:

1. LCD Welcome screen will appear with the firmware version (3.1.0.0 at the moment - although I downgraded from 3.3)
2. Then the squares change into reverse.
3. Then the LFO1, LFO2 and LFO3's flash quickly and the USB Link establish message appears for a split second with all the red LEDs.
4. Then the Virus TI restarts.

This repeats and repeats..

I've tried doing the Arp-Edit option on power on. I also went into USB Update mode and downgraded from 3.3 to 3.1 but no joy.

I'm suspecting its the Power Supply from one other thread on here that was written a while back so I'm going to go to Maplins to buy a new one first.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Cheers,
Simon

Well... Strange.. I didn't hold the Arp-Edit button down long enough (10 seconds) and it's started working fine. So I went and updated to 3.3 and the problem came back.

Update: Just to add to this, I suspect the PSU could be at fault here. I can hear a high pitch whine noise coming from the PSU which I've never noticed before. Can anyone confirm if it should be silent or this is normal?
