I wouldn't say that, but I work on my own so I haven't got anyone to compare myself to.
I do usually make all my patches from scratch though.

I do trance, but am such a perfectionist, I haven't actually finished anything in about a year, as soon as I do, I'll let you hear it

Bass on the virus:
Use all three oscillators (Sawtooth, yea) and a delta wave sub-osc.
Apply a moderate amount of bit-reduction in the filter section.
Stack at least 8 voices in unison.
Annihilate!!!

Hey DS, fancy seeing you here! I tend not to use my Virus for bass. I can't get the powerful analog sounding deep bass from my Virus KB that just pours out of my Waldorf Pulse. I like the Virus more for those punchy midrange bass sounds. I like the Puncher preset, but with some distortion/saturation for added grit. Maybe a touch of fm, too. That type of sound works well over a deep subbass, or with a deep bassy kick drum.
I'm definately going to try JasonDeath's bass after work today. Maybe that will give my woofers a nice workout!

I programmed a variation on Jason Death's suggested bass patch. It was awesome. I never realized just how much bass I could squeeze out of the Virus. By mixing the bright bit reduced sound of filter one with a very bassy dark, low cutoff sound on fiilter two, I made a bass on the Virus that had tons of punch and low end. I only used unison twin, btw. Easily as powerful as the bass coming from my Pulse, with added depth.
