Default Is the virus capable of this sound?

Lead synth bass: 0:48

How would you do it or something similar?

Do you mean the deep/low bass sound, or the sawtooth lead sound, that starts just after? I've heard something similar to both on my Snow, but would have to check some sound libraries, to see where I heard them.

Cheers,

EG

It's a complex sound that is similar to a wavetable kind of synthesis, like the one you can hear with Serum (https://www.xferrecords.com/products/serum).

It's digital and gritty, and I can't imagine it from a Virus. Btw I would be very happy to be contradicted with an example.

The filthy gritty bass. I know the Virus can produce the Sub bass but that one sounds waaay more compressed.

I was thinking the sound might be made in serum with a lot of post processing.

In that case, I would say "Probably". I recently bought the Dubstep soundest off Ultimate X Sounds and there's some SUPER nasty bass and Wub sounds in there. I'll do a comparison and see if there's something close. Will do a quick demo recording if I have time.

Cheers,

EG

For super nasty sounds use Rectifier distortion, Shaper saturation (small amounts, otherwise it rips your eardrums out), oscillator FM, or a combination of them, along with a phase-init for phase consistency and filter envelope modulation for sweeps. Add a little sub-osc with square waveform for growling nastiness.

What do you think of that sound set? Worth the money?

It's a pretty nasty/brutal sound set and maybe not a huge variety of types of sounds, but some incredible stuff in there! I'm happy so far, I've already used a few patches in new songs I'm working on. There's a lot of patches that push my Snow pretty hard and result in note-stealing, so I'd have to record multiple passes to make a complete song without issues.

P.S: I'm just dipping my toes into the Dubstep genre, so very early days for me.
