Very nice studios lads.

Netzach, noticed you're sampling that printer with a mic on the left hand side. Have you tried sticking it right down into the paper feed?

Sorry. I'm only jealous. Well cool setup that mate.

The problem is that I don't own any microphone probably your mind misinterpret something there... maybe the headphones? here is a higher resolution, for your zooming pleasure.

Well, I finally replaced my Korg X5D which I was using as a controller, with a mint DX7 II FD...

you sold your D8B?? What are you using as a mixer? Are you in the Box only now? I use 2 D8B's and could not live without the flexability...at least that is what I think right now...so I am always curious how others that have chosen to get rid of their's work now without it. I would be interested to know what you are using for a mixer and DAW and how you get the outboard gear into and out of the DAW??

Nice setup by the way!

Default Alex's Little Project Studio...

Hey there fellas,

I converted my garage into heated/cooled living space two years ago. It is now my studio/office/guest room/den. Recently I got the carpet cleaned and had to clean the whole place out and put it all back together again.

I also have streamlined my equipment via getting rid of a few things (Yamaha Motif ES Rack, some rack hardware, old crap Behringer UB-1204 Mixer, etc.) that I never used so I can concentrate on using my core equipment to its fullest potential. I switched all my software/songs to a laptop and firewire AI so that I can go mobile (I do some mobile DJ work and run it all off my laptop, and also to record with other folks around town) because sometimes with 2 young kids you can't turn it up loud...

Although not nearly as pimp a studio as much of what has been posted, it's a great little spot and it fits my needs.

Oblique shot of main recording area:

1. Dell Inspiron Laptop / Intel Core Duo 1830s / 2 GB RAM / XP Home SP2
2. Mackie Onyx Satellite
3. Mackie Tracktion 2 v2.1x
4. Behringer Truth 2031As (blech...need HR824s soon)
5. Sennheiser cans
6. Wusikstation VSTi v3.10 / LinPlug RMIV / Lots of Samples + other VSTis
7. Virtual DJ 4.xx
8. Using a cheapy desk and a printer stand combo to be able to space out my nearfields
9. M-Audio MidiSport Uno
10. M-Audio Trigger Finger
11. Shure SM58 / Behringer B-2 / Mic Stand / Pop-Filter...
12. Old PowerMac G4, Dual 500s, 1 GB RAM, OSX 10.4.6, M-Audio Audiophile 2496, will use it someday as a soft sampler, maybe with EWQL Colossus...

My only hardware synth is my Virus KC, and its my MIDI controller:

Guitars, where it all started for me years and years ago...
(1) Ibanez RG2550 EX (locked in case, I forgot the combo, oooops!)
(2) Ibanez SR350 Bass
(3) Fender Acoustic
(4) Line 6 Flex Tone II Amp + Extra Speaker

(What the hell is the combo? At least there are only 999 possibilities!)

DJ Equipment:
(1) Technics SL1210 MK2s
(2) Vestax PCV-002 Scratch Mixer
(3) Virtual DJ Time Coded Vinyl

Other shots of the place just so you can put it all together...

Old PC w/ printer, phone, office stuff...

Guest bed/futon couch...Matsa will sleep here once the authorities in Vantaa get sick of him and deport him.

Must have a television and a DVD player...

Must have the old school lightning orb for late night sessions...I need a bulb for my lava lamp.

Cheers!

Lots of us here are interested in other things apart from synths...

I think AlexHall is a keen guitarist, as is Matsa/Old Man Banter, I'm a keen guitarist/drummer/didge player/Knob twiddler...

I have a gorgeous American Fender from the 80's, when I get home I'll take some pics

Another one here - I make strange noises on guitar. and bass.. beat the hell out of drums and really piss off the neighbours sometimes with a sax and annoy everyone with vocals - very rarely at jam sessions

Mainly Im a synth head, paino second, drums 3rd.

Nothing compares to drums for quickly clearing out a frustrating day... and nothing compares to a piano for chilling out a stressy day. Guitar - well thats for chilling when your wasted, and Synths and a drum machine - well - thats the uplifting energy boost to lay waste to whatever gets thrown at you
