Did your mother let you listen to Atari Teenage Riot too long when you where a kid No seriously, i like some of it (i like some of Atari?s stuff too) though some of it gets i little to noisy sometimes (did i just say to noisy ). Well i?ll give it a go on my monitors when i?m come home (instead of these crappy 'built in' computer speakers at work). Anyway, nice to hear something different for a change...

Hahaha,

nooo I was forbidden to listen to it! That's why I got so twisted... Geez, drag my mother into it

But seriously, which track(s) did you like most? (and thanks for the feedback, of course)

Listening to Outkast...

OK, before I go into the track in more detail - I think that maybe you should tame down the limiting at the mastering stage a tad. It's just soooo loud. Keep the level of compression on the parts themselves though, because I really liked the harsh crushed sounds you have got going there, but tame the over all level a bit.

I really like the distorted all most bitreduced quality you have with alot of the sounds. Very grinding like quality.

Cool stereo image with the FX.

I can imagine a nice crushed snare coming in with this at about 1min20 or so to really bring in a groove.

On the second listen I am thinking some variation on the main drum loop would be nice too.

All in all a really gutsy track with some raw ideas coming through. With a bit of work on the production it could be a killer number.

Thanks for the serious reply Hollowcell, I'm a sucker for mastering / producing. Most of my stuff is just playing live and I often can't be bothered to redo a track the same way, let alone actually finetuning levels and stuff.

I agree with the "killer track"aspect of Outkast, it has some really commercial/hooklike features in a way, I was rather surprised by it myself.

I'm gonna try and see whether I can incorporate your ideas/tips into this or the next production!

Thanks for listening and commenting. Seeing how well produced your songs are I'm grateful to get some tips

I programmed and played new live set... It's in chaotic tekno-like style, very inspired by last night's party.

Have a listen over at the website http://diskonext.kicks-ass.net/tracks.html or use the direct link HERE.

Any feedback appreciated, mainly meant to be enjoyed however.

Mmmm.....brings me back to my raver days, going nuts all night in the hardcore tent

Do u remember when there was this whole resonance/cutoff thing happening with the kick drums in the mid 90's, a la Mokum records (The Chosen Few)

That would sound cool here...Oh wait! I just heard some on your track...nice! Makes me wanna pull out the gabba records from my crate

Haha,

gabba indeed. More like gabba for hippies, I hope. I tried to keep the marching out of the terror a bit. But yeah, this kind of style is still rather popular (well, popular, most tekno-parties are rather small, maybe we're just freaks) in Holland (home of the gabber-scene), and gabber is having a slight revival at the moment. There are some huge (10.000+ people) gabber parties approximately every month, I guess that's popular.

I'm glad I could bring you back some fond memories... how was the hardcore-scene over in Australia? I've been attending loads of underground hardcore/tekno-parties the last 10 years, both in Holland and in various places in Europe... but the law is against us, haha. It probably has to do with the fact that the guests tend to bring more german shepherds than the police can muster on any given night, wee!

Well, when I was into it it was the transition from happy-hardcore into gabba period, which was kinda cool.....the dance scene back then was cool, lots of freaky people, lots of vibe (It's all about the vibe!) and as far as I know it is still going strong, although maybe not as "underground" as it once was, but I do know there are still alot of "free" parties organised by people, but most would get shut down I guess

Always wanted to go to Rotterdam......I had imagined back then it would be like mecca for the hardcore junkies.

Yeah,

Rotterdam still is, kind of. It is more spread out now, with most gabbers coming from small(er) villages, but well...

Most of the new Dutch electronic music still comes from The Hague and Rotterdam, but maybe I'm being a bit of a regionalist

If you want more core-ish music check out http://home.wanadoo.nl/liquid28/diskonext[1101]%20-%20No%20Alibi.mp3 but I guess you already listened to that one? (sorry phpBB doesn't support [ and ] in [url] tags.)
