I may check into that when I get a bit more cash- thanks for the info on the microlite!

My current solution is this (folowing on from Hollowcell's hints): "disable" midi parts 7 through 16 by setting the high key to C-2 in the CTRL menu. So I have 6 channels for the virus and 10 for the sampler. For now that will work...

That'll tide you over for a while. I usually start tracks off on a hardware sequencer before moving over to the computer and this is exactly the way I do it too. Although I only allocate one channel for the Virus and the rest go to other gear.

If the microlite (or similar) can work as a standalone midi router, then I'd be interested in picking one up too. Ain't technology grand!

Yeah. I believe most of them have a midi thru button that will allow the midi in port data to be echoed out all of the midi out ports. I have this on my midex, but am fairly certain all of them have this as well.

I dont think so mate......it is a USB device so when the computer is not on, the Microlite is also not on. There may be something out there that will work, but I havent seen anything.

A friend of mine built a MIDI patch bay, just using a regular XLR face plate, buying the MIDI connectors and soldering it all himself

The problem I would have is that I would want to switch from a hardware sequencer to the computer and back relatively often. I already have a midi patch bay that allows just that, but having a bus setup from the computer would be handy.

Oh well, there are more importnant things on the studio list I rekon anyway.
