Default Win7 + Ableton + TI?

Hey there. After my frustration of BUYING vista 64 and not being able to use it because of one piece of hardware (My TI), I'm thinking about installing Win7 32. I've got 6 gigs of ram and am currently in XP. So, of course, I'm only using 3 gigs.

Has anyone tested the TI in 7 under ableton (7) ?

Would love to hear the reports.

David

I'm running 7 RC1 32bit for testing purpases (I still have an XP install for music). The TI drivers v3 install fine but the VC control is extremely sluggish under Cubase 4. I'm not sure if this is any better in Live.

I reported this slowness to support, but ofcourse w7 is not supported yet by Access so I'm not sure if they will fix the bug.

Thanks for the report.

I think I might give it a shot. I'll let you know how it goes.

i'm running the latest TI beta with 7 RC1 and cubase 5. don't have any performance problems with the GUI and everything works as expected.

Loving win 7.

Yeah, I've installed the latest stable release and the VC UI is quite sluggish. Everything works fine though. I'll give the beta a try.

System specs:

Intel i7 920 2.66 ghz
6gigs Corsair PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 ram
Intel DX58SO Extreme Series Mobo
ATI Radeon HD2600 XT
windows 7 [32 bit version]
ableton live 7

Okay

I installed the beta. It did NOT solve the sluggishness problem. The VC display is updating at maybe 1 or 2 frames per second while the tune is playing.

Ableton's CPU meter is at about 8%.

Taskman CPU meter is at about 7%.

After playing my track for about a minute, I got BSOD.

Retrying, I got a message from windows:

"The color scheme has been changed.

The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color scheme to Windows 7 Basic.

Program: Live 7.0.3.exe
Publisher: Ableton
Process identifier (PID):256"

I'm kinda sad. I'm really enjoying 7 so far, but it looks like I may have to wait before enjoying it too much.

Edit: I just remembered that Live 7 isn't even supported under Vista. I just might jump for Live 8 just to see if it solves the problem.

Thanks for letting me know and saving me the time, the GUI here in C4 is completely sluggish too and C4 is indeed supported under Vista. I have this same issue with ArtsAcoustic reverb but all other plugins I own work perfectly.

It takes maybe 2 seconds to switch tabs on the VC interface on my PC.

I'm still exploring, but I don't think this is an issue with VC or the Virus audio drivers. All of my plugins in Ableton are sluggish including my UAD plugs and Ozone. I tried running 8 in XP Compatibility mode even. I also had the same issues when running in DX/MME mode for the computer sound card.

Still doing more testing... I want to double check and maker sure all the drivers are correct for my display adapter and chipset. Win7 appeared to set this all up for me. I have a hunch it might be a display driver issue.

Edit: After updating bios, display drivers, and turning off AERO, I was unable to get it to work.

I tried turning off Multiprocessor support. That didn't do anything to help.

Turning off AERO helped a little. It appears that this is an ableton issue. After some searching, I found that others have experienced this as well

Although there are plenty of reports out there of ableton running smoothly on win7. looks like with this configuration at this time, it's not going to work.
