Hardstyle kickdrums are almost never 1 kickdrum.
It are 1 or 2 kickdrums on top of eachother together with a synth bass sound
1 short one for the ""attack"" of the kick
1 ""body""
1 bass sound
When the kickdrum vary in hight (typical for hardstyle) only the bass sounds vary in hight, not the attack and body of the kick drum.
I also did not manage to make good harstyle kickdrum with the virus, exept for the bass sound, here you can use the virus for I think
Microtonic VSTi is more helpfull I think for making hardstyle kickdrums
On youtube you can also find tutorials of how to make these kicks
just search ""making harstyle kickdrum"
best regards

A good basis for a synthesised kick is as follows:
1. The main part of the sound needs to begin on a note (tuned to the bass), and descends instantly, very rapidly, in pitch.
2. Another common component is to have a "click" at the start. You can do this with some LP filtered noise, or an ultra-brief burst of frequency modulation, or any other method to introduce some kind of percussive higher-frequency content.
You could try something like this:
1. Set osc 1+2 to 80% sine, osc balance to 50% (ie equal input from both oscs).
2. Set Amp Envelope as follows: A:0, D:25, S:110, R: 45
3. Using the matrix, set the Amp Envelope to modulate Osc 1+2 pitch so that tapping a key on your keyboard produces a sound that lowers in pitch alongside the amp release.
4. Using the Matrix, assign Filter Envelope to modulate Osc 2 FM Amount.
5. Set your filter envelope as follows: A:0, D:25, S:0, R:0
6. Ensure Filter Envelope Amount is set to 0, then set a LP filter with the resonance very low or zero, and cutoff around 50.
Try that as a basis. Obviously you'll need to play a low-ish note in order for it to sound like a kick drum rather than a "pew!pew!" noise. :P
Also, remember to just tap notes, rather than holding them down. Or you could change this so the Decay is the parameter responsible for the descent in pitch.
You will probably want to modify the sound a bit to make it better. I haven't tried these settings, this is just some guesses for where abouts I would start.
Hope this helps :>

To get a hard kick drum (didnt scour youtube) I use (as mentioned) 2 kick drums with some distortion and then compressed to sharpen the blow and keep it clean....hope this helps.

But for me this is a hardcore kick not a hardstyle kick like headhunters where the ptich of the "tail" of the kick varies during the song and the "attack" of the kick holds the same pitch.
