I want to change the look of my website, change photos, add buttons maybe change the layout a little. Someone suggested HTML editor then FTP. If so how? Are there any free? Please Help I know it can be done but I can't pay for experts.

I use Notepad++ (a glorified Microsoft Notepad) for HTML and CSS editing, and FileZilla for uploading via FTP. Both are free.

[Notepad++ details] Notepad++ download]
[FileZilla download]

I use a really old (10yr old) copy of PaintShop Pro 7 for image editing and optimising graphics for the web. Even though it's old, and some of the algorithms aren't as good as the latest image editors I know its strengths and weaknesses better than the back of my hand and it gives me results quick. Adobe Photoshop is a rat's maze in comparison. There is [GIMP] which is a free image editor.

I also use Dreamweaver (which is not free) for previewing HTML and CSS in realtime, but at a push I could live without it.

However I don't profess to being pro. Far from it. A dabbler.
