Default DX plugin board for Motif ES?

Any of you guys (DS) got a Motif series synth with a PLG150-DX (DX7 FM) plug-in board in it?

How do you think it compares to the original? better? worse?

BTW - Its all DS's fault his ranting on about the DX7 and giving links to mp3s got me messing around with FM based samples (FM EPs in particular) and its got me hooked again (to think detox at the end of the 80s turned out to be a waste of time... )

Maybe Im just suffering from VA overload and need a change. Spent nearly an hour and helf messing around with bass sounds across 3 va synths, a rompler and Reason and never quite getting what I was after - picked up my bass guitar for the first time in a couple of months - 10 mins later I have the part recorded - I'd forgotten how rich the tone is on a real bass

Many analogue synths seem to do the same thing. Wish I could start all over again buying gear sometimes. Wasted cash.

As for the DX plugin board. How much do they actually go for?

Its supposed base upon a bug fixed DX7 mk2. I just realised theres 2 of them - I assume the 150 is the later version... (?)

Link to Yamaha page on it: http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/...ODUCT,00.html#

Cost is about 200UKP here.

My VA synths do actually sound very different and are capable of quite different noises for bass - I guess what I needed wasnt a synthesised sound - or at least not a sound based on filtering

it might have been just you, playing the bass guitar with your natural groove, there is still no machine to emulate that very well.

ive started learning E. bass guitar just a month ago.
lots of fun there, but also lots of cut fingers 8O

I dont get cut finger with it - but very tired fingers certainly

I only started with it again last year having not played for for nearly 20 years. Went competely mad last year actually and got back into guitar as well with a Line 6 variax modelling job - now that gives does you tortured fingers

I put medium elixir nano web strings on the bass - quite heavy, nice smooth tone, but with the coating on the strings make it very easy to do slides etc. Down side ive dicovered is that they aint as easy to fret as uncounted strings - tend to be a little but slippy

Interesting....

Id like to hear your impressions of the DX board...good or bad. Im under the impression sounds from the Motif DX board are compatible with original dx's. So anytime u feel like dumping 999 sounds on me...feel free

I think you'll love it btw. All synthesists should own a DX

I have a shite load of DX7 patches. (about 595)

I am also about to buy an entire CD of them from a 20 year+ DX7 owner here in town.

PM me for details.

I'll post the info about the other CD once I evaluate it.
