Default Problem with kick drum sound

I programmed a kick drum that sounds great when it's played alone, but it gets higher pitched when I combine it with the rest of the sounds in the multi. I know it's not a polyphony issue because I only have three other patches and I turned unison mode off on all of them. The strange thing is that if I mute out all the other patches except for the kick drum, it still sounds weird for one more kick and then goes back to normal. I have a Virus b. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan

I set it to 127. It must not mix right with the other sounds.

Okay. I don't think it has anything to do with mixing with the other sounds. I think I just programmed it poorly. It sounds full with a good bottom end when I listen to it through my mixer into my monitors, but when I cue it to record it loses its bass completely and sound pretty much like a 'tick'. I don't know what the problem is. It sounds this way if I try to record it into my MPC1000 or into my computer. I don't even have to press record. Even if I monitor it through my MPC or PC, it sounds like crap. Anybody have a decent sounding kick drum patch for the Virus? It needs to be snappy and synthetic sounding.

Thanks,
Dan

Seems strange....

Perhaps you are monitoring the Virus sound, and the sound coming back from the computer, so there is a cancellation???

Very strange.....Have you actually recorded the sound, and then played it back to see if it is thin?

Yes. It sounds thin when I play it back also. And it's not a cancellation because I turn off the Virus input when I play back the recording. Thanks for the help though. I just need to make a new patch. This one is nothing but trouble. It was my first shot at creating this style kick drum.

Perhaps this patch uses frequencies that my studio monitors can handle, but recording devices can't?

Peace \/
