Oh, by the way; you didn?t buy it from someone in the US or somewhere they have 110 volts, 60 Hz in their power-sockets and then plugged it into a 220/230 volt, 50 Hz socket did you?

I'm guessing the same as Onkel Dunkel: A PSU failure.

Hey DS,

I have the contact info of a guy who sells rescue kits for vintage synths and the DX7 is one listed on his site.

If you want this cat's contact info let me know.

Good luck Bro!

If you don't get it working, you can always make a video where you cut the synth with a chainsaw and finally burn it with gasolin and then put the video on the net.

But anyways, I feel sorry for you and your synth too.

Thx guys...

Ive sent the unit back and got a refund. I love the synth...and will surely buy another one soon....but i think i might pick up a N2x for the time being. Oh yeah...if some of you didnt realise yet....im waiting until next summer before i pick up a TI...or i might just wait for the mLan equipped TI 2.

Ive just bought a good Lexicon effects processor....and its pretty damn interesting mangling synth sounds in it. I ran the Prophet 5 through it...and made some really nice early 80's john carpenter type sounds. Email me if you want to listen to my clip (im having difficulty posting it to my site atm)

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

I've found it's really hit and miss getting things off Ebay and second hand in general. Some users don't look after their kit, I had a Waldorf Q and the knobs were virtually unusable after the punishment the previous owner and given it - couldn't do filter sweeps as the value jumped all over the placce when you turned the knobs. I flogged that and got a Microwave XT for the same money and it's in great condition and works fine. It's a bit of a lottery though getting used stuff off Ebay.
