Default (solved, i fixed it)Trouble with my Virus, broken button :(

Shit, i was drunk and broke the left parameter button on my virus_a innit,
the button still works somehow, but i'm not shure if it's ok to keep using
it like this. I didn't opened it yet to check out what's going on in there,
but seems like i will need to replace the black plastic cap of the button...

I asked at my local music-shop (the only ones who deal with Access products)
and they talled me it's not a big deal, i need to bring my virus, and it may
cost around $100 to replace it, not include VAT... So, i said that all i need is
the button and i can do the job myself, the salesman talled me that it's ok,
and it will cost the same price...

That's just great, what can i say, i'm so lucky that i live in this shithole!

Now, my question is, where can i order a replacement button ?
There's a chance that it may cost less than $100 include delivery and VAT ?

Ez.

Hey Bro,

For some reason I think I am remembering that is a real bitch to order Virus replacement parts.

I will try to find the post I read this in and sdrop the link here.

The Division of Access that deals with parts apparently has their head up their arse when it comes to dealing with consumers...

Hopefully someone knows of an expeditious method of obtaining a new button.

-Alex

Ive said it once and I'll say it again. Access should make an addition to their website which allows customers to buy as many knobs, buttons, batteries and LCD's as they like. Its these very components that fail due to mechanical wear in later years....then your screwed because you cant find/buy them. Manufactueres dont tend to do this...I dont know why. Im sure they could make a side business out of it.

Who needs a T-shirt in 20 years time? It'd make more sense to sell practical things to help keep the synths going. Maybe they could make a new virus t-shirt saying 'help me, im trying to source parts'

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

who did you talk to?
usualy music shop are rather fair to costumers,a button or a knob should cost more then 20$ max with the 30 seconds it takes for the old guy in the back to replace it.

Don't remember who it was, i talked to one of them on the phone, and that's what he talled me
I can replace it myself in a matter of minutes, it's not a big deal, i'm a very tech person.
One thing that bothers me is the price, $20 is ok, even if it worth $2, but $100 is just too much.
I think i should come to music-shop and talk with them personally, and i will do it next week...

Wish me good luck this time...

did the actual button cap break?
or has it just stopped functioning?
sometimes dirt can build up behind the cap and prevent decent contact - are you sure it needs to be replaced?

cheers

Only the black plastic cap on top has broken, the button itself still works somehow...
