Default question about the bass station

hi

i have a bass station rack since a long time now and i am still confused about this:
what is real analog in it ? the oscillators or the filters ?? i don't remember i've read anything about it in the manual tho... i always thought it was 100% digital, but someone here said it was analog...

any idea ?

mm, im not sure either hatembr!

i just had a quick search and i found out the bass station keyboard is an analogue modeling synth. it also came before the bass station rack, sp i would think the rack version is VA too.....

but, the bass station rack has cv gate and midi together, but i cant get much details about the specs other than that. if i had to guess though (because it came after the bass station keyboard) i would say its VA....its just the cv ports!?!

im actually bidding on a bass station rack at the moment, because if it goes cheap enough, i will have a midi to cv converter with synth tacked on..

ill let u know here if i find anything out about it.

I acctually owned a basstation key - dont know if it was an VA or analogue, however it sounded like a bad VA but the seller said that it was analougue..

I wouldnt recommend it either way acctually - well some sounds you can tweak is pretty good, but its not a "basstation" it doesn't produce any good bas-sounds, more weird fx / leads

yeah true, it can produce good but not thick or phat leads and may be as u say weird fx (i couldn't do any fx with it though, only few ambulance-like sounds ), but it has a very thin filter and and ithink it sounds better when filtered with something else than its own ones.

btw, its VST version doesn't sound the same AT ALL, for those who think when using it are like using a real bass station.

hey i read this at the novation site..

http://www.novationmusic.com/nov_rou...ation_rack.htm

it looks like it is analogue, but with DCOs instead of VCOs (similar to the junos i guess...

also i may have been wrong about the keyboard being a VA! i read that off of the vintage synth explorer site, but it looks like the keyboard is the same as the rack except keys and no CV...

yeah true tomer, but i meant that if it is a real analog, then they didn't mention anywhere that it has DCOs and not VCOs

anyway, i'll try to use it a little and see if we can get some nice sounds out of it... Cosmosis used his bass station in almost every track where there is a distorded 303ish sound, like in "Alien Disco", so i guess it can do the job!

mmm true hatembr, it doesnt really say if it has DCOs or not...but below is what it says about digital tunning and the like...after reading that i would asume it uses DCOs.

yeh, thats all u can do really! anyway, even if it doesnt sound so good, at least you have a good midi/CV converter.
