Default Waldorf Q - any good?

A Waldorf Q will be finding it's way to me next week, a mate is going away for a bit and he has kindly offered it to plug the hole that the Ti has made - for a few weeks at least. Will I want to buy it off him? Anyone used one before?

In my opinion, the Waldorf Q sounds very thin and digital. It has a kind of spiky and cold sound. You really have to work hard to get warm and lively sounds out of it. Good for some weird sounds. The filter is good but the oscillators are so weak compared to any other va synth. But the keyb really looks beautiful!

I swear I'd kill someone for a yellow Q keyboard.

Wasn't so impressed with one when I first bashed around on one in the store, but I didn't spend much time with it at all. Just felt cold and didn't have that instant rush like other synths.

If I was in your position and could really try one out before buying I definitely would take up the chance though. There must be something to them - so many people like them after all.

Q's are very nice......

But my money would go on a Q+

Here check out a Q+ demo...... http://www.synthmusic.info/mp3s/Lastq.mp3

Oh and check out an Andromeda A6 demo...... http://www.synthmusic.info/mp3s/deuxandrosv2.mp3

The only thing about the Q+ is that Waldorf never had a chance to fix the OS bugs before they went out of business.

i think the Q has a very noble sound
rather digital

i wouldnt go for it if your looking for a warm analog sounding digital synth.
its a very advance and fat sounding synth...
