Default Favourites category

Unless I've got this all wrong or am missing something obvious, I can't make easy use of category designations Favourites 1/2/3 ("Ooh, I really like ROM P 67 and would like to remember it as a favourite"). It seems that if you want to set a Favourite category for a patch, the patch is regarded as edited and has to be saved to a RAM bank. I had thought that 'Favourite' designation would index a patch for filtered searching rather than alter the patch so as to require new saving. As a consequence, my workaround is to fill up the end of RAM (RAM D 127, 126, 125,...) cumulatively with my favourite patches so I can find them quickly by stepping through, when I would rather make proper use of the 3 Favourites categories without eating my way through RAM. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Suzzy

You are not mistaken this is the way it is meant to work and always has.
You can make use of them just like any other category, why do you say you can't.
IMO it would be a waste of valuable memory to store those seperatly.

Example: if I decide I like preset ROM-G 123, and edit it to set a category for it to 'favourite', then I have to save the resulting patch to RAM, thus 'wasting valuable memory' esentially by duplicating the patch on my hardware.
