Default Interview with designer behind Analog Solutions synths

Interesting interview here. I've gotten more interested lately in the sound of his synths after listening to a friends LeipzigS.

very nice read!

it's interesting how this cheaper brands from Japan had such a huge impact on both the EDM scene - more like the rave scene back then - and music in general from the 80's and 90's. Affordability dictated how music developed, in a way, and the tools that got "classic" status a few years down the line. Like the TB, the Junos, even the later JP (on the VA department).

What do you think of the Leipzig-S? Very few synths really get my attention, including Moogs, but having tried one of these out I was really impressed. A lot of analogs just sound too retro to my ears, this synth really struck me as different in the sense it can sound retro if you want it to but it goes way beyond that. The sequencer is really neat and encourages lots of creativity. A little pricey for a mono synth, but none of the other recent analog offerings I've heard really appeals to me. Impossible to find one on e-bay, nobody that has one is letting it go.

It's a subjective thing I know, especially that I would take this over a Moog costing much more or a MS-20. Reading that interview with the designer explained a lot of things to me about why I like the sound profile of this beast.
