Default UAD Plugins? What do you think?

So I am interested in Universal Audio Plug-ins... anyone use them? Can you tell me your thoughts about them? I'm considering buying the plugins below..

I hear good things about these plug-ins and i'd like to know more opinions before I put money down.

Thanks!

Here's the list of plug ins I'm interested in:

Empirical Labs EL7 FATSO

Roland RE-201 Space Echo:

Neve 1081 EQ:

Trident A-Range EQ:

Fairchild 670:

Moog Multimode Filter:

Manley Massive Passive EQ:

Teletronix LA-2A:

Korg MS-20:

Hello,

I have had a UAD 2 Duo for a couple of months now and I absolutely love it.

I bought it off a friend and he warned me that once you start it is like audio crack, you just want to buy everything.

From your list I have the Fatso, which I have used on guitar in a track I am working on.

The Moog filter is stunning, I could play with it all day. I recently used it to overdrive some drums and I like to put any synth through it. It just sounds fantastic.

I have the Neve 1073 EQ, which again seems to add something to whatever you put it on.

Some of the plugins take time to get the most from, I have been told, but I love using them.

I'm really glad I bought one after thinking about it for quite some time.

The videos on the UA website give a good insight into each plugin.

I hope this helps a bit?

Thanks,

Dave.

Hey thanks, glad to hear! I'm super excited to get it for myself..

What card would you recommend?
-I have a mac pro.
-The most tracks I've used so far have been about 40ish in one song, but I only started making electronic music for about 5 months so I have a feeling that will be changing as I get better..

What are your thoughts?

What is the latency like for tracking (live)?

Like sticking a UAD Fatso on an incoming line-in signal (external synth) via ASIO?

Hello!

I have a UAD2 Duo. bought it with the Neve-Bundle and abolutely love it!
from your list of the plugs i have the
- neve 1081: eq great. gives nice color and shine. i use it on many channels.
- moogfilter: sounds really moogish and warm.

you can buy the card with bundled plugins (f.e. the neve bundle).
check this. you can save a lot of money like that.

Thanks for your input hagmanma,

Only thing I'm curious about now is if the duo is a good enough card for me, I just don't want to buy a card and later wish that I had a better one.. What do you think? Is your card good enough for you?

Hello,

I haven't used it for live tracking so I can't really say how good it is. If I get a chance I will try it.

I have the Duo and I went mad on the first track I used it on and hit the limit. If you can afford the Quad I would go for it.

Dave.

i don't know. depends on how many tracks you have in your songs and on how many tracks you want to use the uad plugs. for me the duo is enough.
i use the normal logic eqs f.e. when i just want to do a low- or highcut. i don't think that a neve eq would do this 10 times better. like this you can save your uad power. in a normal project with about 40 tracks i use about 10 or more uad neve eqs, 2 - 3 uad comps, and about 2 - 3 moog filters and have still some processing power left. every uad plugin has also a "lite" version which uses less power from the card. and they sound more or less the same. same same but different . i use them f.e. on hihats.

don't forget... some plugs like the manley massive passive use alot of power.
much more than a neve eq would....

I've got just enough money for the quad but i'll have to save up again for the actual plugins lol but it sounds like it will be of use in the future... I dunno.. Sounds like a tough decision because I dont know exactly how many plugins I'll be needing in one song in a year or two when I'm much better...
