Low LFO rate swooshes, atmosphere, or just blending it with other sounds to make it come across wet and stand out more in the mix.

Also whitenoise on the ipod is great for drowning out the voice of annoying coworkers if you have a job requiring lots of focus time, although I assume you meant while making music

Here's what I consciously use noise for:

• As an FM source to make a patch sound abrasive. A technique often used for trance leads, unique to the Virus (that I know).
• Thickening existing patches. Works particularly well when the filter EG modulates the patch.
• Percussion.
• Adding bite to attacks. Down-swept transients.
• The usual sound effects... LFO wooshy, phaser madness.
• Adding a touch of high frequencies to a patch before filtering, to accentuate it slightly.
• Drastically filtering it with high resonances and using it as a tone across the keyboard by tracking with keyfollow.

THE best thing I've found with white noise was with a vocoder. I used it as the carrier and then filtered it. It gave this really nasty meanness. it was pretty intelligible with the higher filter number and sounded really good layered with the original highpassed. The hp original lends a little more intelligibility on the consonants and the vocoder noise has the effect of distortion, but the filter makes it a little edgier and resonant.

Also, snare drums and hihats.
