I've heard so many good things about the RME 9632 and Firefare.
I should have gotten one of these instead of my suck ass EMU 1820M!

depending on how many in/outs you need HC, perhaps you should check out the new alesis mixers being released next month - alesis multimix firewire.

The 12 channel version is being released first - 12 simultaneous channels over firewire to your daw at 24/48 (the converter quality may be questionable in a unit with so many specs for $400USD)

However, you get 4 xlr inputs w/phantom power, and generally the unit is quite a decent, sturdy looking bit if gear (and it isnt behringer...)

Im sure the converters on the RME would walk all over the ones in the multimix - its just something that caught my eye that I thought would go nicely with my TI (if either of these products ever actually ship

If you might be interested in a breakout box - try Echo Audio's new Audio Fire8 - 8 in/out 24/96 - s/pdif - wordclock - 113db dynamic range - looks nice... same price as the RME card you are looking at.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I'm really leaning towards to RME, but like I said it won't be happening straight away. If anyone else has any other ideas let me know.

I have been using this exact card for over a year now and it is fantastic as are RME - they update the drivers regularly, not to iron out bugs (are they always seem bug-free but to add new functionality).

The main benefit I use it for is the DigiCheck app that can be run with the card. I have it set so I have a continuous frequency analysis, output meters (using the K system) and a phase meter - all this being monitored in real time across the stereo out.

It is a seriously good card!

nice

Youve got me interested in this card now...

I ruled out RME purely because the firface was out of my price range, but this seems like a viable alternative...

cheers

Ummm....Nope. Macs are definitely out of my price range.

Thanks again fellas. Great to hear some tried responses from Ten and Drammy.

I think I will end up with the RME 9632 by the looks. For the money it has great features and good converters - plus expandable with more in/outs and the like.
