Yup. Dongle or not - It still gets cracked. And I really don't see a way how frequent updates could stop crackers, because all the crackers make cracks for fun as a hobby so they are delighted to get their hands on a new version to crack.

I'm really interested does Korg's VST's sound as plastic as their HW stuff.

I dont think i do.

If it takes them 6 months to break the dongle and then once it has been released and new update for the dongle is available. It takes another 3 months to break and this keeps occuring then the groups will eventually leave that plugin and move on to other projects.

The powercore plugins havnt been cracked in over a year due to the fact the keep updating the drivers making the cracks unusable.

The only way i see them staying with one app even if its updated is with a mainstream one. An example could be nuendo.

Bad news for steinberg but good new`s for other smaller company`s if they keep updating their protection. Software protection will be cracked more easily that using hardware dongles.etc

But will updating the protection outway the price of lost sales due to piracy? Thats where the company`s need to make a choice

Ehh, an HW MS-20 sound plastic? 8O

I think the controller/dongle in this case is more working on the want values of people rather than the dongle key side of things. I think many people will want the controller, and the fact it works as a dongle is just a pisser for the people who just want something for nothing.

Having said that though, I'm a firm believer of the try before you buy method.

Hold on though - does the controller actually work as a dongle? I haven't read that it does anywhere.

I'd sure like to have a real MS20 and no software.. besides the controller is a smaller version also of the real MS20.. i quote from korg.com's homepage.

with a dedicated MS-20 Controller that faithfully replicates the original MS-20 at 84% of the original size

I'd just like to remind you guys what true analog sounds like...even when its being run through a shitty digital Alesis Quadraverb!

http://artists.iuma.com/site-bin/mp3...g_MonoPoly.mp3

LETS GO BACK TO REAL ANALOG MONO's. Manufactures could easily make rackmount analog mono's for ?500. Its about fucking time.

do u really have to make patch connections on the controller to replicate it on the VST or are those just for the design? they don't talk about this neither....

I don't know about this either. Surely they would make it so you can patch on the screen too.

I agree! Although only for bass though. I will be picking up more Monos for sure. I can't wait for the next purchase.

True, but I'm glad it has some type of hardware interface. Patching with the Nord micro tended to be a bit of a headfuck IMO.

I would like to say that analouge gear is really nice for lush pads and leads as well.. some even have the capability to make great FX (with alittle help from effects like phaser/flanger and so on)

I think i've seen on Sonicstate.com that it is possible to patch the MS-20 on the screen, the controller is more for "fun" and gives the package a more "Damn, i want that controller also".. I think it is a smartmove by Korg, since they will probably sell alot more than just having people downloading it.. I am gonna buy it - well not me but the swedish state (hehe) for me
