Default New skins slows browser down

Actually this skin sucks a bit. It takes ages to render and slows everything down. In the powrcore fuorum they had the same skin.

can we have the old one back? dark grey text on light grey "aluminium" is so bad for eyes... and the red text just plainly hurts...

Sorry, I don't like it.

Sorry you don't like it Ronkaz,

Don't mean to be blunt, but in a word - no.

It was put to a vote and hardly anyone voted against the new skin and people have put a lot of time and effort into it.

I will however be making changes, reducing the loadtime where possible and making some slight amendments to the colours, although the black on brushed aluminium will stay, I'm afraid.

Jase, thanks for the heads up on the PM - should be fixed now...

I can't put a vote there.

It is really hard to read! Don't want to rant, really, but, please,
coloring is a basic design issue. Beg for reconsidering the colors.

And what it makes so slow is the background bitmap, the "brushed aluminium".

Or make at least the skin a user setting.

I doubt two 2kB images, which in any case will be cached after you have been to the site once, are slowing things down. Everything renders pretty much instantly for me.

The voting finished a month ago, sorry.

I will make the skin user settable to compromise. I was looking at that earlier, it will take a couple of days before I get round to it though as one of the mods has removed the user skin option. I will need to add it back in...

As for the background - the main brushed aluminium bg is 1.67kb and the tabular bg 2.07kb so I don't understand why it takes any time at all to render on your machine, perhaps you should update your browser?

Im feeling the infekted love, guys. :P

You wont get rid of me that easily

BTW the new skin looks great - good work guys - but as I said in a couple of other posts (and in the voting thread) - I still think the background is too dark - just a basic design issue from someone who ahs been doing graphic and web design for quite some time....

Other than that - on with the shenannigans!

cheers
