Default MIDI PLUGGINS?

OK so i have some very good audio pluggins which im more then happy with but i really wanna know if you can get sum good midi ones?

I mean if you select a midi pluggin there is some in there which i actually use a couple off and have noticed a standard midi on but is there any more you can get??? or is there not such thing!

Talking of plugs. check the yamah mastering edition!! Fuck me Amazing

And the vocal pitch fix ir well good but a very very very high processing hogger but probably the best Ive heard! Shame I had to send it back with the o1x!

But yeah anyone know if you can get any good midi plugs so you can add basic effects on top of the midi information before getting off as audio?

I'm after some for use within Cubase SL. I'll let you know if I find some good ones. The only plugins which I use at the moment are Waves C1 compressor and DSP effects. There's tons of shite out there.

Korg Legacy is nice. Also Arturia stuff. Native Instruments have B4, Elektrik Piano (not released yet) and Kontakt.

And on FX/mastering section IK Media TrackS, TimeWorks ReverbX, Kjaerhus Audio GEQ7, Waves C4 and L2.

303lovesit,

I know what you mean. Everyone seems to be getting confused with audio plug-ins which apart from the odd few that have MIDI input as well as Audio (as Tomer pointed out) effect the audio that is input into them, outputting audio.

There are also MIDI plug-ins which effect the MIDI signal that passes through them, outputting MIDI.

I have Cubase SL2 and that comes with some standard MIDI plugs such as a MIDI delay, which adds MIDI notes to the input signal in accordance with the delay settings.

But to answer your question 303lovesit, I don't know of many MIDI plug-ins. Have you checked out kvr-vst.com which has a very large database of plug-ins, not sure if it has MIDI ones as well.

Martyn

In Digital Performer, there's a 'Humanize' MIDI plugin that works really well. You just take your run of the mill MIDI drum loop or tom fill or whatever (this works especially well on tom fills, snare rolls, etc), and then you can specify what and how much it should 'humanize.' It just randomly offsets attacks, releases, durations, velocities, but it lets you specify a maximum percentage of offset (based on the note's length, original velocity, etc.) AND...let's say you'd like to randomize the data a bit, but don't want anything whatsoever coming in early, well then you can specify that, as well.

And then some of the "MIDI compression" plugs are sometimes useful if your velocities are way off.
