i ask the ableton live forum but know a couple of the admin on here use ableton live and are very helpful and figure why not ask here so here my post

i spent a good couple of hrs trying to find another topic to see if i could gain insight into this problem. I was not able to find one that was helpful and have read both manual for abletons and the external midi instruments and decide to ask your help since its is a specific gear setup im asking about.

I have a mac mini running osx 10.5.8 processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo memory 1gb

as far as Ableton live Im using 8 1.1

Now i have a Future Retro Revolution (as of yesterday) and a MS 2000 BR and have read the manual for both and know that the Future Retro can send and receive midi messages. The problem is this is the first time im trying this i have an M-audio usb to midi cable and I have connected to the future retros midi in and midi out. The cable has led for the usb, midi in, and midi out that lit up when message are being sent. I already know that u have to change the furture retro midi sequencer to ext to receive messages and have done that. Pretty much i know im more than half way there and once i get to ableton lives preference page i think i get messed up on the routing there or in Mixer/instrument view in ableton where you route the midi in and out. If anyone has done this or has insight into this it would save me alot hassle thanks again

nvm i was able to figure it out i thought i had install the update for m audio midi cable and thats why nothing was showing up in prefences and was confused by the routing sry about that ill hold off a couple more days till i decide to post a thread and tired everything sry to waste anyones time
