Suffering from a bout of GAS there by any chance?

Have to agree - its growing on me - best thing to come out of Korg since the M1

A few bits in demo vid did sound like they were very specifically aimed at attracting us Virus users

Im sure Ive heard something allmost identical in the vengence demos on the access site.

Sure looks sleek.

Unfortunately, I wasn`t very impressed by the sounds. the pads sound lush enough, but all the rest sound rather... errr... cheesy.

seems nothing more then an (over) expensive Toy... \

Best,
midi.

The sound of the Radias is imo ok. Reminds me alot of MS2000 but somehow better. In fact I liked the MS2000 altough it didn't sound so analog. I would like to have one but the price is too high. $1000 would have been a better price. Alesis and Roland have given good examples of todays pricing. Take a look at Ion and SH201. Also the Andromeda is ridiculously low priced considering that it is a high end synth and cost way over 3000 euros earlier (the price is ~2200 euros in Europe now). These companies have reduced the prices because software is so cheap (or free) and they have to compete against software. Btw, I have never seen Access dropping their prices with any model.

I think it's a very similar engine to the high-definition AL-1 analogue board used in the Korg Oasys.

The first thing I noticed when hearing it at Namm was it's virus-like sound. It can even store snippets of samples and vocals, and vocoding too.

Just the price (as always with Korg ) that puts me off.

If Korg ever brings out a successor (with physicial modelling as well as the analogue stuff and more) to the Z1, I'm sold. A couple of years down the line I think they will. They've already bought out "plucked string" physical modelling algorithms for the Oasys, which sound absolutely great. But I don't want an Oasys, just a dedicated hardcore synthesis synth instead.

Access is not a big company like Roland, korg and yamaha. Just think about how many products these companies make. I bet you anything alot of their products are covered by others.....meaning that some products are inevitably flops....

Access on the otherhand have one product - synths (in several flavours). Access cant afford a flop....they have no other products to cover themselves with. Big companies can afford to cut back features and mass produce for cheap (SH201). It would not be viable for a company like Access to regress and make ever simpler products....they'd get blown out of water by lots of other companies doing the same thing....all battling for a small market share. Nope.....this is why Access are committed to continually evolving their range.....steadily getting ever more complex (but at the same time refined). This is Access's destiny - where it will lead is anyone's guess.....but im sure they will be along round for a long time to come. Why? Because they have balls. They may not always get things right....but they do try (alot of other companies take the easy road and emulate Prophet 5's.....hmmm Arturia).

Dispite all the bickering and tensions.....I say good on you Access for trying....the day Access stop trying will be the doomsday

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....

Well, unless you consider the classic model, of course...

In any case, I always thought the Viruses were very reasonably priced synths to begin with...not cheap by any means, but always offered a damn good bang for the buck in comparison to some other products. thats a very fair approach by access, IMO (as oppose to some other companies bloating the initial price tag of a synth with the intention of offering it later in a special "discount" price).

Best,
midi.
