I have never come close to getting a nice guitar sound. I have managed to get a passable plucked string sound though, but it always seems to static when compared to a real plucked string.

Capturing the playing nuances of a real Electric Guitar is pretty much impossible IMO. Some of the newer VSTis do a reasonable job, but an analogue modeling synth doesn't seem to cut it. That's probably why Romplers (and real Guitars)sell so well I guess.

At any rate though DS, I am looking forward to hearing what sounds you come up with. Let us know when you have some ready!

Default guitars

for analogue guitars my G2 and moss board do a good job.
On G2 there is a preset patch called acoustic guitars. it has 8 variations of guitar sound, kind of like the random patch generator. Hail physical modelling.

Hey DS, if you wanna hear how close I've gotten to guitar sounds with my synths, listen to the track I've got in the "forum member's music" section. All the sounds in my newest song are either the nord, VC, Juno or CS.

Well here it is. A quick 80's style track all done on Virus and played live. Hehe I apologise in advance for the 80's style drums etc etc.

The first chord sequence was made using the analog filter

The synth guitar uses the standard Virus LP

The funky bass uses the analog filter

Default 80's

Nice track, you could use like dnb kit instead of a acoustic drum kit and dnb style drum work.
Awesome guitar patch mate Is it realy the stand lp flt with saw and pulz. and saturation.
like that bass too, very good in dnb and tribal.

Thx for ur comment. Hmmm DnB version would be fun hehe.

The guitar sound is actually based on 2 saw's, the second one being detuned to 25. The filter settings are critical.....but effects even more so. Took me 2 days of tweaking to get the tone I was looking for. Some bands in the 80's used synths to create guitar solo's......

Im happy with my attempt. Trying to do it on a modular would be a head fuck...but ultimately more realistic.

The SynthWizard has some advice - Back in the 1980's music was better, TV was better, films were better. Not to mention fashion.... Let me help you relive the past with some classic 80's sounds from my vintage synth collection....
