Default music box!

i built this patch on my virus b today:

http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/10/0...cboxdreams.mp3

i originally started out trying to make an analog sweep fx but pretty early on i twigged that this sounds like one of those music box lullaby thingys. so i bunged the old classic 'dreams' into fruity playing this music box patch.

does anyone have a genuine music box? is this close to the real thing? i attempted to replicate the slightly out of tune quality you get along with the long tail of the notes.

without a real music box for reference im not sure if its a hit or a miss. it might be a bit bassy but i dont know for sure.

once i finalise it ill take requests for classic lullaby songs lovingly reproduced for your listening pleasure courtesy of my virus b desktop. since hollowcell has a sprog, what a great time to introduce mini hollowcell to the wonderful world of subtractive synthesis. all other virus forum sprogs should listen to some virus music box. get em hooked on synthesizers early i say.

of all the monster aggressive leads i planned to make on my virus, i never expected this to be one of them. im pleasantly surprised at the variety of sounds you can get out of it. oh, and the mod matrix is fast becoming my second home. i live in the 1st and 2nd assign slots. pop by for a cup of tea sometime - just knock on the edit button.

its a bit bell like at the moment but i think it needs to be a bit more plink! like. ive still got assign slot 3 pretty much empty.

i think the extra modulation matrix slots on the virus c would be a god send.

ill work on some post processing to tighten it up as well. at the moment its just the raw patch. and i think ive hit the poly limit and some of the notes are cutting out too (curse you virus b for only having 24 voices!)

Oh well, next week I guess.

The link brought me to a 404 error. I'm really interested in hearing your patch. I have Sonik Synth 2 which has a few music box samples. I love playing songs with it for my 10mo daughter. My favorite part is simulating the slow-down to complete stop... Uh oh, time to wind it up again!
