Default random arppegiater sound - r2d2

Hi together,

I am searching for a patch, or the technique behind such a patch.

The sound I am searching for is the one everyone might have been heard. Its a sound which let people think of computer, telecomunication or robots. Its a arppegiator based sound of random notes (don't hear a dur or moll thing so maybe complete random?). But it looks like it is not only the sequence of tones, but also the ton sound, because when I randomly play notes at the keyboard it is not the same.

The sound is similar to the sound parts of R2D2 if you are a starwars fan. But I want it as clear as possible without other noise or interferance.

The best sample I found on youtube:

Maybe there is already such a patch or someone has a good wav file of it. I need the sound for a game I am programming for android.

Some synths have an option for "random" for LFO shape (as opposed to more popular sine, triangle, saw etc). Send pitch to that and tweak the speed of the LFO and you've probably got most of what you want. No glide... some synths call this Random-Hold versus Random-Glide. Being able to break apart the harmonics (i.e. additive synth) editor can go a long way toward getting the EXACT sound you want but I suspect on a mobile device that part won't be something you spend a lot of time tweaking. I could create a few WAVs for you if you want, but I'm not sure its exactly what you're seeking so I thought I'd describe the technique first.

Update:

Decided to play around with this and come up with a few samples, may not be exactly what you want. Keep in mind they are 15s each so you might want to chop them up to keep only parts you want, as the note duration has been randomized here as well as the pitch.

I used Zebra and I actually use two LFOs here. One for the randomization of the note tune itself, and a second one to vary the rate of the first LFO (so there are shorter and longer beeps).

Hey, thanks for your input and effort.

Although I found a different noise for my game, your output is almost what I identionally looked for.

After my game is finished, I will come back and play around with my snow like you described.

Thanks again.

I was glad to participate... I had fun with this one because I started trying to think of musical tracks that incorporate this type of sound.

Telephone Line - Electric Light Orchestra
....about 10 seconds in...

Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo
... Intro, although it is a cluttered and very rapid arp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V04IBsz-9Wo

Who Are You - The Who
...Throughout song, though it is slow and has kind of slow attack on cutoff (brass sound) more than a digital blip

That's all I could come up with, can anyone think of others?
