Default What is "DATA" as modulation source? [SOLVED]

Hi there!

I know this might sound noob, but i'm fairly new to the world of synthesis. I own a Virus Rack XL and a Moog Slim Phatty, and i'm really happy with my instruments.

Im already able to get some sounds out of my head, i'm getting the grip of synthesis alright, but still have some things that is hard to understand or discover by ourselves.

I know what is modulation, modulation matrix, the paths etc.

Im only curious about this "DATA" as modulation source in the Virus, i haven't seen this parameter in any other synth.

PLease, can anybody tell me what is this and how to use it?

Thx a lot

Might it be Data Entry (MSB - CC#6)? Waldorf synths have that, too - and the soft knobs on the Virus can work as that control.

Hi there! Thx for the reply.

THat's exactly it!!

I just tested here! I didn't know the DATA was the soft knobs! I had to assign the knobs first as "data" in the system menu though.

The manual is good, but it's very confusing at some parts, not too clear and doesn't explain very well some parameters.

pointsource, check out this guide made by user reflective : its way easier to understand a lot of the parameters and i found a lot of the explanations extremely helpful as a novice synthesist..
