Default Samples in Ableton Live 7.0.3

have noticed the strangest thing happening with the sound of my samples when imported onto an audio track in Live. The sound of a Vengeance sample when auditioned in my Live Library (on left) sounds punchy and crisp, then when i just drag it onto an audio track with default tempo of 120 and play it within the track it sounds sooooo dull WTF is going on here.
thanks in advance

Are you using Drum Racks?

If so, the samples it loads into Simpler default to 0% Velocity, making them seem quiet in your racks. Crank that to 50% and it'll sound fine.
