I have an 828mkII that I just picked up a month ago; and the ever-popular 24/96. I guess if you don't need lots of i/o, then the 24/96 is ok, but I never cared for it that much...was always having to plug/unplug stuff, and I hate the fact that it has RCA connections instead of 1/4". But I suppose it sounds fine.
The 828mkII, on the other hand, KICKS ASS. You have loads of i/o flexibility, all my synths and sound generators can be permanently plugged in, plus it acts as a stand-alone digital mixer, just bring it to the show and don't bring the computer

And it has MIDI, ADAT Lightpipe, S/PDIF, mic pre's. I could go on. Love it. Best money spent on my studio, IMHO....
