No, no, no. Don't bother.

LCD display gets "slow" when the temperature drops, i.e. the characters fade slowly instead of vanishing immediately as usual. The backlight of the display warms up the LCD module in few minutes and that explains why the display works fine after a while.

Edit: Usually LCD's get slow in really low temperatures 10c and below, but because VC has a non-standard red display the temperature ranges may differ from the basic green LCD and in this case the display is more sensitive to low temperatures.
