Default Vocal sounds on the Virus

Hi guys & gals,
Have you seen this page? Per Kristian's Virus patches.
While his Jarre recreations didn't do much for me (they're OK, but lack that analogue magic that makes Jarre worth listening to IMO), there's one patch that I find absolutely brilliant: Drunken Old Man.

Now I can get something resembling vowels using bandpass filters in parallel (that's how it's usually done, correct?), but nothing comes close to this. I tried modulating the filters in the same direction and opposite directions; I tried saw oscillators and squares of various widths, but never quite nailed it. So, any tips will be greatly appreciated! Specifically, I'm interested in anything regarding oscillators and filters (type? routing? modulation?) as I believe it's the key to convincing vowels. In the above sample there's also a fair amount of vibrato, and much of the effect is in the way it's played - this part I got figured out

Download the Virus Tutorial (complete with examples) by Howard Scarr, there's a patch and a how-to about a similar sound (basically the "Peanuts teacher voice", in your example washed in reverb)
