Default Faking a z-plane filter

Seeing Z-plane filtering seems a popular technique in drum & bass, I was wondering how I can achieve this within my Virus Snow. Thought about it, but don't have an idea how I would achieve this.

Quote:
A z-plane filter is a filter which can change its function over time In a z-plane filter we start with two complex filter types and interpolate between them using a single parameter" Basically the emu can modulate between to filter types say high pass and lowpass very fast in realtime giving the emu its signature "growl." Good news for all software people is that coming in emagic logic audio 5.0 the "EVOC20" a logic instument which acts as a realtime filter bank with the ability to morph between two filter settings just liek a z-plane. I dunno about you but the idea of putting the new 3 oscialltor 2 filter ES2 synth (a virus in a vst box) through a z-plane filter bank gives me a stiffy. I may have to sell my virus and emu to get the new mackie control surface for logic 5 if this tuff is as good as it sounds. Lets wait and see!

Thanks in advance

Default Use serial configuration and modify balance

Configure both filters in a serial arrangement (serial 4 or serial 6) and then modify the Filter Balance so you can modify the contribution of each filter, simulating realtime change of the filter type.

But wouldn't that result in fading from version 1 to version 2?
What I believe a z-plane does is morph from completely lowpassed, to unfiltered, to completely hipassed. So from 0-63 = fully lowpassed to unaffected, and 64-127 = unaffected to fully hipassed. IF I understand correctly.

Yes the fading you get with the Filter Balance is actually the morph between both filter types...

If you also want to stop any filtering, you can also modify cutoff frequency to totally open one of those filters... This is a matter of deciding when to begin morph, when to open the current filter(s), when to continue the morph to the next filter type.

I did it by assigning a softknob control to filter 1 freq, filter 2 freq AND filter balance. However, it sounds fucking boring, a lot like a bandpass. Maybe I'll have to wait to the next Virus OS in order to get the real thing. Because it sounds boring
