Default Recreating Microhouse "Clicks"

I really enjoy the sounds in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0vFvGvIgVU

I was wondering how I could create the shifting, percussive scrapes, pops and clicks in this track. They sound very similar to sounds I've heard in microhouse classics like Vocalcity by Luomo. I love the organic vibe..the scrapes in the very beginning before the beat drops sound almost reptillian.

I'd love to create these sounds using a Virus TI Desktop Module.

Also, could someone answer a total newbie question for me? I was wondering how you can trigger sounds live with a Virus TI Desktop without there being a keyboard. Do you need a MIDI controller or laptop or something to do this?

I think u would be better off getting those sounds in the Audio realm rather than midi...
U probably need to micro edit samples to get little tiny pieces of it...then run them through effects like bit reduction and crushers, distortion, reverse.. etc...

Of course you could design them on synths, but I would probably do this as audio sample edits...
They seem like little square waves and some tiny noise bursts and stuff...

oh ya...ENVELOPES.....short decay.....
