Default Giving up cigarettes....

Yes, I mean it this time. Fuck it's hard though.

I'm In day 6 and I would quite happily murder my mother for a durry (as we call them here in eshtraya)......

Anyone else with tough resolutions? Any other smokers? I wanna hear your brand and what it's like to smoke so I can live vicariously......

I bought a Moog Little Phatty as reward/incentive for not smoking.....

At least i can still smoke Spice Gold and Yucatan Fire heheh! (another topic?)

hey

I'm currently on day 3 of not smoking. Luckily I'm off work for 2 weeks so I can chill out and not get too stressed.

Packing in cigs is easy, I've done it many times

good luck

I can offer mental support for you all. Hoho. They say that after two weeks you start to be in the clear.

One good thing that helps quit smoking is to change to crack. Although some health experts say it's not a recommended option.

Edit: I couldn't resist googling on Yucatan Fire. "I can safely say this new blend is stronger than Skunk and Smoke in the way it affects your head - you get a nice smooth smoke (not harsh at all) with a very damn sleek flying sensation as you sit there staring into space." Hoho. Damn hippies.

Just bought myself a Minimoog Old School and Lexicon PCM 81 - I have no money left.

LOL

I gave up 25 years ago and it is fucking hard. I remember that smoker friends all laughed at me and said "you'll give in and start smoking again". As the days then weeks went by and I got through the mental addiction they all lost interest and I never got to tell them to fuck off back. Fortunately I wasn't doing it for anyone other than myself, because people will disappoint you every time. Make sure you know why you are determined to give up.

I ended up carrying an unopened pack of cigs everywhere I went as a badge of honour for a year. Because I was never tempted. Honestly, if you can get through a month and you still go back to smoking, then you really don't want to give up.

Good luck! Also, I would offer to buy your Phatty for cheap if you need money for cigarettes

At $13.50 a pack, and four packs a week I will havta sell you my LP if I start smoking again!

My lungs are kinda achy and I'm hacking up all sorts of nightmarish gunk, I'm assured this is a good sign.

OMG, I just remembered the allergies I got when giving up! I would sometimes be late for work because I was sneezing and coughing in the morning. Yes, its a good sign.

The greatest thing about giving up is the convenience of not having to carry the fags and a lighter and somewhere to put the ash. Bugger the health issues, life is just so much easier without it

True, and last night I had my first experience of being at a dinner and not having to get up and go out onto the street every 15 minutes!

It's a ridiculous thing to do on so many levels, I don't even remember when or why I started. I was 16, i'm 29 now and have been assured by my doc that I can undo all the damage if I stick with it....

Which I will.....

For my Moog......

The thing I miss most during nicotine withdrawal is the sensation of smoke entering my lungs. I would imagine smoking doobie would go some way to helping relieve it. You might find that you smoke rather compulsively in this situation, and while 2 weeks of heavy weed smoking isn't likely to kill you, you might accidentally smoke too much and whitey, so be careful there..

You might also like to investigate electric cigarettes. They are quite expensive but you only need one, and then you buy the refills which are quite a bit cheaper. It's basically a tiny vaporiser that delivers a small hit of nicotine - and nothing else. So inhaling it presumably would give that same feeling of fulfillment, just without the negative effects on your health.

It also gives your hand something to hold, which is good because your hand misses the solid stick too.

Good luck :>
