No I don't use any pre-sequenced loops. In this track I used old school breaks chopped into single hits, then I layer them in the sampler and play them live. A few of the snares and high end are clean modern rock samples though. That subby kick on the first beat was a seperate sample too.

My drum tips for DS.

Always record kicks and snares on seperate tracks.
Never over compress (depending on the genre).
Never quanitze everything - maybe just the 16ths.
Gate high end to emphesize groove (also gated-verb is good for high end and snares).
And layer and pitch your samples.

Hope this helps you DS.

I used the roland precussion pad to trigger the sampler, but I didn't actually use any sounds off it. Infact some of the snares in this track I've used for the past 10 or 11 songs, I just pitched them, FXed them and layered them a bit differently.

Thanks for taking the time to listen guys! Appriciate it.

This track has gotten the most mixed response from anything I've ever done I think. I'm glad most people like the beats though.
