After this past few weeks with Waldorf Q rack (obtainable used but do not come up that often), can safely say very tweakable on the surface, with a mod matrix reaching heaven or hell--it can go both ways as far as sounding, well...what the Microwave XT cannot do, the Q can! Would not surprise me to see on an alien spacecraft, both the orange XT and bright yellow Q occupying 10 rack spaces as their form of intergalactic radio!!
Maybe there IS something to the term "Waldorfians"...those Germans are aliens under the store front of a synth company!
