just go and buy any USB v1.1 or USB v2.0 PCI Card and use it as dedicated interface for the Virus TI.

different ports (root hub) won't help since you need a second controller in order to gain more bandwidth.

(you may have to go through the all Virus TI driver installation procedure again ...)

PS: on a MAC this definitely could have happened, too!!
