it's not to copy or imitate something. it's the difference between the input and the output. an electric static microphone has got the better output than a dynamic one.
for example if you record a 1khz sinus and you analize this with your computer after recording, you'll get a result of something like that but not exactly and only. or if you generate for example a 1khz sinus with your computer and you listen to it with your monitors, you definitly don't hear exactly this frequency. for that reason you've never heard and you're never going to hear a real sinus.
I think it's quiet interesting but I don't find enough informations to write a good essay or at least to get a good score
