With hardware (or reason which works the same way cos of its wiring) then you would do exactly that (kick->sidechain) if you want to keep the pad feed to the mixer separate. short attack, short release, tweak the ratio, threshold etc until you get the level of what you want - then go back and tweak attack and release to contour the pad sound in the way you want. |
