No, it really wouldn't work at all. System Exclusive data, as implied by the term, is exclusive to the machine you're dealing with, and the OS on that machine. It would be sort of like dumping an executable set of instructions for Windows into OS X. There's a lot more to a patch than simple MIDI that could be interpreted by any synth.
