VST vs Audio unit in ableton?

anyone have an opinion which one is better or integrated with ableton for things like automation/changing preset/etc?

if just using audio outs, do i need delay compensation on in ableton?

so i am running newest ableton and virus TI with up to date OS,
i am using virus control, not the midi jacks, but all i want to do
is use the audio outs, no USB outs...it seems to only be in time if...

usb audio mode/best choice? no input?

hello, i was wondering if leaving my virus TI rack's usb audio mode
to 3 output/1 input (to use the atomizer) makes it work a little less optimally then running it as just normal 3 outputs....
