DS, try and get a used Boss CE-300 Superchorus off eBay. I got mine for $60, and it was the best money I ever spent on gear. It adds that beautiful Roland Glow to everything. It stomps lexicon...

DS, if you have access to those classics, you'll probably be able to appreciate the Virus for what it is instead of trying to force it to be a Jupiter.

Except the JD-990, which is cheaper and has osc sync, ring mod, and a number of other features missing on the JD-800.
The two synths can sound fairly analog, but they can get all digital and weird....

I hope you know what you're doing, man. The Virus is great, but it always left you dissapointed. Are you sure you want to lay down the cash? You could always hedge your bet by getting a used B...

I think alias free osc's would be a big undertaking, DS. It's a nice thought, but I don't think it's the sort of thing a midi file could accomplish.

BTW, do you still have a Virus? Are you gonna...

I'd like to see the Sequential Circuits filter, only because my Micron has all the other filter types (except the Korg, but there's that nice cheap Frostwave MS-20 clone...).

DS, I've never played a Jupiter. It has a little bit of a Juno-ish tone, but not exactly. Take that as you will.

Nordlead, the build is good. It's a light little synth, but it's much better built...

Maybe turn off unison. Unison with some detune can cause phase cancelation on the low end and actually weaken your sound. Maybe what you like about unison on this patch is just the volume boost. ...

Sorry I'm late on this one, but I've processed guitar and bass with my Virus KB. It sounds great. The filters make guitars/basses sound synthesizery, but they still retain some of their stringed...

DS, I have a Virus KB, ESQ-1, AX-60, Pulse, Bass Station, JD-990, and ESI-2000. I played with the Ion a bunch of times at Guitar Center, but I don't have one. I was just using it as an example, I...

Ben, do you work for Access?

Also, synths tend to have a signature sound. You can make a million different patches with the Virus, but they're still gonna sound like a Virus. This is not an attack...

I don't mind being the odd man out. The hypersaw thing doesn't impress me. I'd rather have a regular saw wave that sounded better than hundreds of detuned saws that sound slightly weak. Besides,...

Do You Care About the Virus TI?

Personally, I don't. I still have my KB, I never felt the need to get a C, and I'm certainly not going to throw down the cash on a TI.

The TI is cool, and it has a JP-8000 ripoff supersaw, but is...

I always thought the MS2000 was kind of mediocre. If I were going to buy a MOSS synth, I'd get a Prophecy or a Z1. Unless the modsequencer is important to you, they are both better synths.
