Yes, I believe you can unplug a polar and plugin a desktop or keyboard and the computer will not know the difference. I switched from a TI keyboard to a desktop and it all works just the same.

I was getting crackles on v 1.09 through USB, and got a PCI USB card which solved crackles by about 98%. Now with OS v1.11 all seem 100% solved so far.

You assumption is not quite correct. The audio that comes out of the Virus Control is VST standard, so 32 bit float. There is no information you loose when you are using FX beyond the Virus Control...
