Getting pitch to rise automatically then stop and sustain?

I could just write in the automation, but would there be an easier way to make the pitch rise for a few seconds then stop and sustain at a certain note? So that when the note is triggered it goes...

wwoooooOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

hope sounding it out helps. ;)

Tried messing with a ramp LFO but it always repeats... I thought that envelope mode of the LFO was supposed to make it not cycle...therefore it would trigger the LFO for one go around and not repeat... what is the LFO env amount anyway?

thanks!

What about using portamento and monophonic modes? This way you get precise control of the starting pitch, the ending pitch and the time used to raise the pitch...

What about using an envelope, with a slow-ish attack plus maximum decay and sustain, routed to pitch? You can use the modulation amount to arrive at intervals above the root note.
