Just got my Virus C. Need some help
Hey!
I recently bought the Virus C desktop synth. Now im learning how to use it etc. But i notice in the multi mode that the effects on each sounds are reduced. only the delay is there.. whys that? can u use the same amount of effects on multi mode as in single mode? Another question i have. when i record from midi to audio in cubase sx from my virus c. im setting upp the effects on the sounds on the virus. but when i record the midi file to audio some of the delay seems to be gone.. whats the problem? is there any LOCAL OFF setting in virus? u can contact me on MSN: trance_uppsala@hotmail.com regards toomas |
I'm a pretty novice Virus user too, so I'm not 100% sure I'm telling the undying truth here :) :
Do you record in Multi-single mode? If so, you are limeted to one global delay effect. I don't know why they have this limitation since it's not a problem on another VA like the Novation Nova. If you need different delays on your different sounds, you will have to record one instrument at a time I think... |
If I were you, I would probably arrange your MIDI tracks to their final state, and then bounce each one down to audio, and then play around with different FX within SX, or some plug-ins....SX comes standard with some nice delays/reverbs/phaser plug-ins...
This is usually what I do anyway.....apart from when I am sound designing and adding phasers etc. But I have never really come across the problem you are talking about. Good luck, and have fun with your virus! |
in the multi or multi-single modes only one delay OR reverb configuration can be applied to the 16 different parts. They share the same rev/del settings, only the send amount can be varied. This is why patches sound different when switching!
The other effects (phased, chorus and disto) can be configured in different ways for the different parts. |
Yeah, I think reverb and delay are more "global" (master) effects rather than "insert" effects. Would have been nice to have a possibility of using both delay and reverb at the same time, but there we go. - I guess it's better than nowt, and the reverbs contained are actually very, very useable (as synth reverbs go)!

Yeh, it is a bit of a down side having only a global delay and verb. It's due to power restraints i hear.
I'd rather have a reasonably good reverb, than having a weak reverb that can be used over all the parts seperately though. |
