Creating Pink-Floyd Synth Sound From Welcome To The Machine
Can someone Create the lead sound from "welcome To The Machine"?
Im gussing it's a Moog but dont know for sure..this sound has some Kind of a weird electrical flow like an electric current it's awesome. Im quite a beginner with keyboards and synth programming but I tried To recreate this sound on my VC and I almost got there but still Something was missing I guss it's this electrical flow texture. if Any of you guys success to create that sound with the Virus I'd love to hear it..Take care and thanks. |
Heck. I don't have that record but I've heard a live version of it. I can't recall what sound you mean. Could you post a short clip here?

Basic Moog lead. Oscillators: Osc1: +0 saw, Osc2: +12 or +24 (try which one sounds better) saw. Add just a bit detune. Filters: 24dB filter (Ser6, bal -63) with average resonance. Set cutoff to about half way and set envelope amount to 80 or more and set decay to quite slow so you would get that delayed envelope you hear there (at first it's at maximum and then starts to drop after a second or two). Effects: Add analog boost. Add delay with zero feedback with delay time around 100ms. Set panorama to -63 and (I'm not sure is this next thing global or patch setting. If it's global, don't bother to change it) delay output to Out1 R (control menu, if I recall it right). You might also add some chorus (not much, just a little bit). Tweak there. Edit: And of course set keyboard mode to mono1 and add some portamento (about 32). |
Thanks alot Juho, i'm gonna try that.
BTW how sould I route the LFO? |

When you make that patch post a mp3 clip of it here. I want to hear it. I don't have any synths to test that patch myself so I'd like to know how well I got it right by just following my instincts.

Sorry Juho but i'm afraid i dont have the equipment to do that..
Maybe i'll get a decent computer soon but right now i'm very Limited (not to talk about that i'm actually a guitar player and only recently i started playing keyboards) As for the LFO i got the impression that it's controlling the filter Cutoff and is kind of slow..am i wrong? |
