what is that wheel next to pitch bend?

Hi, I have the virus indigo 2 and after looking through the manual I cant find anything about what that other wheel is next to the pitch bend wheel. I think it is the mod wheel but cant find much about what it is supposed to do at all. I noticed the pitch wheel is sort of spring loaded but the other one isnt also. If anyone can explain a bit about it I would appreciate it , I did do search but couldnt find any specifics. Cheers

It's the mod wheel. You could assign the mod wheel to control lot of parameters (cutoff, rez, env, lfo, pan, efx, eq, saturation etc)

The way you assign the modwheel is by going to mod matrix, choose Mod wheel as source, destination as whatever you want to control (cutoff), then choose the amount to control. :)

One more thing - the mod wheel is traditionally used for controlling the modulation (vibrato) rate of an instrument.

This would come into play if you use your Indigo to trigger a sound module, sampler or something.

No, it's not spring loaded, there's nothing wrong with yours. Additionally, in a VA such as the virus, the mod wheel is most often used to control filter cutoff, and it will generally have a dramatic effect if it is set to this. Vibrato is often assigned to aftertouch (changing pressure on a key that's already held down), but I suppose on some patches it is useful to assign it to pitch bend as well. On the Virus there are about eleventy-million different things the mod wheel can do, if you know what you're doing...
