Drum Unit Advice

Hi,

I'm into epic-trance and somewhere in between Crystal Method and the Chemical Bros. I'm interested in purchasing a drum machine and/or rhythm unit.

I thinking of buying the Korg EMx-1 or the NI Maschine or the Machinedrum SPS-1UW MKII (yeah, I know, huge price difference).

Does anyone own of these and could kindly list pro/cons?

Thanks.

have you thought of buying a MIDI controller with pads and using Stylus RMX or the drum VST's in your DAW

The only Midi controller I have is an M-Audio 61 Keyboard.

for the money i would look at the Akai 32 controller + NI Komplete6 + reason compared to what you have listed you will have a great drum pad trigger, massive collection of drums and sounds, routing and more goodies besides for making what you want ;)

Of course a Virus TI or Snow as well ;)

Yea, komplete comes with battery 3. Heard a lot of good things about it. u can buy it seperately though.

Hello Iceforest,

One of my friends have the Korg and what I can say about is cheap toy. Filter is successful enough but it is all.
A other friend have the Elektron and you will have to spend a lot of time on the modulation for having something convincing.
Take the advice of TheHobbit. A good controller as Akai mpd 24 and NI Komplete are an excellent investment.

Guys, thanks for the advice. Question: Does NI Maschine come with Battery 3? Or do I have to buy Maschine & Battery 3 individually?

Have to agree - why go hardware for this sort of stuff when you could fork out more cash on plugins/filters/sample banks and get better sounds with easier control and workflow.

check out the NI site for more info on products - also look into Nova musik on ebay for product combos with the Maschine etc - they have great deals.
